Cancer and Acupuncture

What can contribute to the development of cancer?

Cancer is the abnormal growth of immature cells in an uncontrollable way and can spread to other parts of the body. Cancer starts when our chromosomes are damaged by oxidation, radiation, stress, or an imbalance of hormones and the nervous system. Over time I have developed a list of direct and indirect causes or conditions that can lead to cancer, based on extensive research. If you would like to view these research studies, which I reference, please review my book, Acupuncture and Hormone Balance. Here is the Cliff Notes version of the factors that can contribute to the development of cancer:

  1. Chronic inflammation in certain body areas such as intestine and prostate.
  2. Hormone imbalance: imbalance of estrogen and progesterone leads to overgrowth of breast tissue, uterus lining or ovarian tissues. This growth is usually benign, but it can become cancerous under certain conditions.
  3. Stress can cause an imbalance of immune function, thus weakening it.
  4. Too much ultraviolet light can damage the skin, causing melanoma.
  5. Cigarette smoking.
  6. Too much junk food is linked with chronic inflammation.
  7. Lack of sleep can lead to weakened immune function and imbalance of hormones.
  8. Deficiency of Vitamin D due to indigestion.
